In Sardinia there are currently 19 DOC (Denomination of Controlled Origin) and 1 DOCG (Controlled and Guaranteed Denomination of Origin), recognized to Vermentino di Gallura. The 19 DOC of Sardinia are therefore: Alghero, Arborea, Campidano di Terralba, Cannonau of Sardinia, Carignano del Sulcis, Girò of Cagliari, Malvasia di Bosa, Malvasia of Cagliari, Mandrolisai, Monica of Cagliari, Monica of Sardinia, Moscato of Cagliari, Moscato di Sardegna, Moscato di Sorso-Sennori, Nasco from Cagliari, Nuragus from Cagliari, Semidano from Sardinia, Vermentino di Sardegna and Vernaccia from Oristano. The only DOCG and the 19 DOC represent 66% of the wine produced in Sardinia, while the PGI, in which the autochthonous grapes are often combined with the so-called international grapes, represent 15% of production.
